For years the BBCA has been hosting a Stampede Breakfast to celebrate the Stampede in Balzac.
Prior to the opening of CrossIron Mills in August 2009, the BBCA Stampede Breakfast was an independent event put on solely by the BBCA with the support of member businesses, however with the addition of the neighbourhood shopping centre, the Breakfast grew exponentially, outgrowing its home at the Balzac Hall which didn't have parking for the event that took up the entire parking lot.
For the 2010 season, the BBCA members deliberated and ultimately decided that based on the growth in the area and scale of the event, the best course of action was to partner with BBCA Member, CrossIron Mills and the Stampede Caravan, to move the breakfast to the CrossIron Mills parking lot and make the event the first Official Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Breakfast event to take place outside of Calgary.
The 2011 Stampede Breakfast saw approximately 5800 breakfast go-ers and 2012 saw over 7500 and in 2013 due to the rainy weather we saw a drop back to over 5500! Everyone reported that they loved that the community feel of the traditional BBCA had been preserved as much as possible and that the partnership with the Stampede Caravan and CrossIron Mills allowed for the addition of even more fun and exciting family activities such as the second stage, Bass Pro Shops casting pond, hay rides, face painting, balloon sculpting, pony rides and more.
Don't miss the 2014 Breakfast which is sure to just keep getting better!
